Pork-Stuffed Steamed Tofu
  Ingredients ( 8 Total )
     
  • 1 lb tofu (firm)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 oz ground pork
  • 3 dried black mushrooms, soaked and  finely chopped
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rice wine
 
 
Pork-stuffed tofu tastes as good as it looks!
 
 
 

Tofu is extremely versatile and is used in many kinds of dishes.  It is low in fat and contains a good amount of iron.  In this recipe, the balance of savory flavors from the filling and the adaptive nature of the tofu is fantastic.  

 

 Cooking Time*:  25 minutes

  Step by Step Preparation  
 
  1. Cut the tofu into squares of 3 in. x 1 1/2 in. thick.  Scoop out some of the tofu from the center to make a hole for the filling.  (You can use a teaspoon for scooping.) 
  2. Combine 1 tsp of cornstarch with pork, mushrooms, bouillion powder, salt, sugar, and rice wine.  Mix well. 
  3. Stuff this mixture into the tofu and steam over high heat for 4 minutes.
  4. Serve alone or over leafy greens.
